Project Pride

Two Lion's Club Members presented Grade One Students with Canada flags and certificates in a special assembly today.  This project is intended to foster pride in being a Canadian citizen.  I hope students will take good care of their flags and display them with pride on Canada Day!

Measuring in Math

I wonder how many Math Cubes would weigh about the same as two ducklings?
We learned that one duckling weighs about the same as 23 math cubes.

 We have five darling little ducklings in our classroom to add to learning about the needs of animals in Science. As you know we have been incubating some eggs and there is a story about how this experience is going. Please ask your child to tell you about it!

In Math students are actively engaged in comparing and recording non-standard measure in a variety of activities. The objective is to express their experience at Centres using terms such as "farther than", "more or less than", "heavier or lighter than" and "longer or shorter than".
