Proud to be Canadian!

Thanks to the Devon Lion's Club for once again coming in to talk to students about taking pride our country and flag.  Each child was presented with a certificate and a flag that they can proudly display at home.

Counting Our Blessings!

It wasn't easy but it was worth it! And we are counting our two little blessings; Venom and Sheldon.  By the way, I did not name them!  The students were thrilled to take our chicks out for some sunshine and fresh air.

The Miracle

The second arrival!

After ten hours of unremitting effort, this little guy finally emerged from his shell. It has been a long day, but well worth it. Venom will have a friend. This one's name is Sheldon. So glad you are here Sheldon!

Finally a chick has hatched!

A sweet little black chick hatched out this morning at approximately 10:15. Linkoln and Mrs. J.P. were there to witness the miracle. This little guy is chirping, hoping for a few feathered friends to join him. Keep your fingers crossed!

Discover New Friends at Discovery Place

I was so happy that all students were able to make this trip to Discovery Place.  It was an awesome experience!  The bike ride there was a challenge for some, but we did it!  The students performed their song and dance brilliantly and the seniors loved it!  Children then met with individual Senior to read to them and ask some important questions about what life was like 70 or 80 years ago when they were in first grade.  The conversation flowed and all were treated to cookies and juice.  It was so much fun we stayed longer than planned and made it back to school just in time for home time.  The students were so excited and felt they had gotten to know a Senior Citizen and learned a lot about the past.  They have a lot to share.  I sure hope everyone remembers what they learned when we share on Monday!

Discovery Place

A note went home last week about our trip to Discovery Place. The purpose of the trip is to learn first hand from Senior Citizens what life was like for them when they were children and appreciate some of the changes that taken place over the past generation.  We also want to bring some joy into their day by entertaining them with a short performance.  We are riding our bikes and will leave the school shortly after 1:00 and return about 2:30.  You are welcome to ride along with us.
