MATH

In problem solving we are working on using a variety of strategies. Following is an example of the type of problem we are currently working on. There are 12 pencils in the box. Some are old and some are new. How many old and new could there be? Students use manipulatives and/or draw pictures to figure out some of the possible answers before writing one or more of the solutions using a math sentence. eg: 8+4=12 or 12=6+6.
