Welcome back and Welcome 2012!

Happy New Year!

Welcome back to school! I am very excited about getting back to learning, especially because we are starting off January with an author study of Dr. Suess.  I usually "do Suess" in March, as it is the Author's Birthday, but I decided it is equally fitting to start a new year with. Our first story will be HORTON HEARS A WHO. If you don't know the story I recommend you read it. It is a story about caring for others and the importance of each individual; no matter how small. Students will learn about "Author's Voice" and do some creative and descriptive writing as well. We will be doing some related art activities and more. Look forward to hearing more about  Suess during January! 
There will be no spelling this week!
